Now click on the Install button to re-install it. ** This adds the freeGLUT header files so that g++ can find them at compile/link time!Ĥ: now search for glew-dev then go in and click on the Remove button ( it must be removed so you can re-install it ). ** This fixes the main GL directory and any inconsistencies that may exist!ģ: now search for freeglut3-dev then go in and click on the Remove button ( it must be removed so you can re-install it ).
Here's how you do it successfully ( keep in mind that you need to do these in the exact same order as I did in order to put things back in working order for your g++ compiler ):ġ: open the Software Manager from System SettingsĢ: search for mesa-common-dev then go in and click on the Remove button ( it must be removed so you can re-install it ). The problem is that the mesa/AMD/OpenGL/freeGLUT/GLEW GL directory or overwritten and since you need the GL library/headers and the freeGLUT/GLEW headers you need to put everything back. Yayyy Now I can get back to studying ( just no OpenGL 4.3 features until AMD get's off their arse! )Ĭode: Select all fatal error: GL/glew.h: No such file or directory To verify I opened the Driver Manager and the last one ( fglrx-updates version 2:9.012-0ubuntu1 ) is now selected.Ĩ: Reboot to crank up the video driver againġ0: glxinfo reports my good ol: OpenGL Shading Language 2 Compatibility Profile Context 9.012 - The Workspaces screen displays correctly - Opening multiple OpenGL context windows with freeGLUT works again!! Searched again and found it with the green checkmark for installed. but glxinfo wouldn't work.ĥ: I selected the top one ( xserver-xorg-video-ati (recommended) version 1:7.1.0-0ubuntu2 ) and clicked Apply changes and now glxinfo has OpenGL version 1.4Ħ: Reboot - which brought up Linux Mint "Running in software rendering mode )ħ: I opened the Software Manager and searched again for fglrx and found it wasn't installed ? So I selected the ( fglrx-updates ) and installed it. This process might piss you off but it sorta worked for me, lolġ: I got this command from a topic here "ATI Radeon Graphics Installation Problem" but now it seems that the topic is deleted?Ĥ: I closed and then RE_opened the Driver Manager from System Settings and now only have 3 options available and of those three the last one ( fglrx-updates version 2:9.012-0ubuntu1 ) is selected.
In case you've done the same thing and need to know how to revert to the AMD driver in the Software Manager here's how I did it: I am removing this 12.104 ( 13.4 ) AMD driver and going back to the driver ( 12.004 ) that is in the Software Manager because it worked perfectly all around including multiple OpenGL Context windows with freeGLUT.
** However after the upgrade to 12.104 ( 13.4 ) form their support site the OpenGL Shading Language was still exactly 4.20 ** Note that the only reason I even tried to upgrade to this driver was to go from the12.004 OpenGL Shading Language 4.20 ( from the Software Manager ) to 4.30.8 which is what AMD's 13.4 (12.104) driver was "supposed" to upgrade us to per their support site. Also when you are writing a program to support multiple GL context windows with freeGLUT the second OpenGL context doesn't display and is completely transparent. In other words the Workspaces screen shows black backgrounds instead of the desktop wallpaper. WARNING!! Don't Upgrade to AMD's 13.4 driver unless you absolutely must!Īfter upgrading to this 13.4 driver from AMd's website it appears to break multiple GL context support.
